Burkinees laundry advice
BYLIMA opts for top quality. All our burkinese are made from the best certified LYCRA. We chose this because it lasts 5-10 times longer in chlorine and seawater than any other elastic material. Even though we use top materials, we recommend following the washing instructions below.
✔ Rinse your burkini immediately with clean lukewarm tap water after each swim to remove chlorine and salt.
✔ Wash your burkini by hand in lukewarm water with a small amount of mild soap.
✔ Do not let your burkini soak in the soapy water for hours, but soak the burkini in the water for a short time and then rinse it thoroughly.
✔ Never wring out your burkini, knead out excess water and hang it to drip dry out of direct sunlight or lay it flat to dry on a clothes rack.
✔ Only store your burkini when it is completely dry to prevent discoloration.
✔ Never put your burkini in the washing machine or dryer. LYCRA is an elastic material that can be damaged in a washing machine and/or dryer.
✔ Never use bleach, separate spot cleaners or aggressive detergents. This will cause the LYCRA to wear into the burkini.
✔ Never iron your burkini or take it to the dry cleaner.
To keep your burkini beautiful for longer, you can use the following tips in addition to the washing advice:
✔ Do not leave your damp burkini in a bag and/or damp towel for too long. This prevents discoloration.
✔ Be extra careful when (hand) washing the burkini with the biste or attached emblem.
✔ Avoid contact with rough surfaces such as rocks and pool edges. This is to prevent 'fluffing' or, in other words, damage to LYCRA. Damaged LYCRA may resemble pilled fabric.
✔ If possible, take a short shower after every dive or swim before possible sun sessions. This promotes chlorine and salt rinsing.
✔ Complaints due to incorrect treatment of the swimwear will not be honored.
