Ready-to-wear washing advice

At BYLIMA, we pride ourselves on using only the finest fabrics for our scarves, abayas, and kimonos. To maintain the beauty and integrity of your BYLIMA pieces, we have put together a few essential care tips to guide you in preserving their quality:

Care Tips:

Handcrafted Detailing: Every embellishment and detail on our scarves, abayas, and kimonos is carefully applied by hand. To maintain the integrity of these delicate designs, we recommend avoiding the use of pins or sharp objects that could damage the fabric.

Wash with Care: As our textiles are made from premium, natural materials, they may release dye during the first wash. To prevent any color transfer, we advise washing your newly purchased items separately in cold water by hand during the first few washes.

Gentle Washing: We recommend hand washing your scarves and abayas/kimonos with a mild detergent. Alternatively, you can have them professionally cleaned by a dry cleaner for added care.

Drying and Steaming: After washing, hang your pieces to dry immediately in a shaded area. Once dry, carefully steam or iron your scarves and abayas/kimonos at a low temperature to restore their smooth appearance.

Professional Silk Cleaning: For our silk scarves, we always recommend professional dry cleaning to ensure the best care and longevity of the fabric.

Cotton Care: For cotton scarves, we advise using a lint clipper to remove any excess lint and preserve the fabric’s softness. Cotton is a naturally vibrant material that may change shape with wear, similar to Kashmir, adding a unique character to each piece over time.

Dye Transfer: Please note that textiles, especially those made from natural fibers, may release dye during washing. To avoid color bleeding onto other fabrics, wash these items separately for the first few washes.

A Final Thought:

Scarves, abayas, and kimonos are delicate items that deserve the utmost care. Wear your BYLIMA pieces with love and attention to detail, and follow these care tips to keep them looking stunning for years to come.
